Das Filmjahr 2020 – Ein Jahrgang, den man schnell wieder vergessen will. 2020 – Mund abwischen, weiter machen

Bad Boys for Life, Birds of Prey, 1917, Der Unsichtbare, Knives Out, Sonic the Hedgehog…
… und dann kam der 18. März und mit ihm die bundesweite Schließung von Lichtspielhäusern. Der große Schock sollte jedoch erst noch folgen: Premieren wurden abgesagt, Starttermine wiederholt verschoben. Doch Kinobetreiber, Verleiher und Filmlieber gaben sich kämpferisch und erfinderisch: Das Autokino erlebte ein kurzes Sommer-Revival, Online-Filmfestivals versorgten Fans am heimischen Laptop und Kinostarts wurden versuchsweise auf VoD verlagert.
So entwickelte sich ein Hybrid-Modell, dass uns auch 2021 weiterhin begleiten wird.
2021 – Eine neue Hoffnung
Die gute Nachricht: Auch 2021 werden wir wieder zahlreiche neue Filme genießen dürfen. Ob und welche Filme jedoch auch im Kino an den Start gehen, ist offener denn je. Gerade erst gab Warner bekannt, im kommenden Jahr eine Testphase mit zeitgleicher Veröffentlichung im Kino und per VoD zu starten. Streaming-Anbieter werden somit 2021 eine noch größere Rolle für Film-Releases spielen und gerüchteweise wird derzeit bei Netflix & Co. ordentlich gefeilscht. Außerdem mischen sich jede Menge verschobener Filmtitel unter die regulär terminierten Kinostarts, was die Lage sehr unübersichtlich macht.
